Those who work with horses are frequently masters of crafts made from horsehair—specifically from the mane and tail. The traditional ropes and whips they weave from horsehair are nearly unbreakable, and now are produced for commercial markets. Contemporary artisans are also reinvigorating methods of horsehair work by making more ornamental items of extraordinarily high quality, such as pin holders, rings, necklaces, and earrings.
