  • 100 Peruvian Heartbeats: Cajoneros at the Opening Ceremony

    After the Opening Ceremony of the 2015 Folklife Festival, 100 Cajoneros—an ensemble of Peruvians living in the United States—welcomed the Perú: Pachamama program to the National Mall. The cajón box drum is featured prominently in many genres of Peruvian music and has become a symbol of national identity, helping Peruvians stay connected to their heritage, no matter where they live.
