Hailing from Waimea on the island of Hawai‘i, Hālau Nā Kīpuʻupuʻu is a traditional hula school led by Kumu Micah Kamohoalii. While the performers had planned to share dramatic dance and chanting rooted in Native Hawaiian language and cultural knowledge, due to the unhealthy air quality they chose to present instead a demonstration on pounding Hawaiian kapa (bark cloth).
