We open with the powerhouse, Dubai-based band NOON. With roots in India, Egypt, and Great Britain, the band—Mohammed Hosny (oud), Ratish Chadha (drums), and Steven Bedford (bass), with local guest Ron Holloway (saxophone)—reflects and is fueled by the UAE’s cultural diversity. At its heart, NOON is an experimental sound project in which the oud is supported by electric bass and drums. In their music, you hear echoes of funk, African and Indian rhythms, and the improvisatory impulses of jazz.

We close the night with D.C.’s very own Experience Unlimited. These hometown go-go/funk heroes return to the Festival with a signature sound further marking the region as a sonic center of gravity. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes for a return to the National Mall unlike any other.
