Capping off the first night of the 50th anniversary Folklife Festival’s Reunion Weekend, son huasteco musician Artemio Posadas brought the spirit of northeastern Mexico to the National Mall on July 8. Distinguished as a National Heritage Fellow by the National Endowment for the Arts, Posadas carries on this regional tradition in his home of San Jose, California, collaborating with a young generation of musicians like Dolores García and Pablo Quiroz, who accompanied him in Washington, D.C.

This concert received federal support from the Latino Initiatives Pool, administered by the Smithsonian Latino Center.
