  • Libaya Baba Perform Traditional Songs in the Endangered Garifuna Language

James Lovell, a musician and educator from New York City, joins the group Libaya Baba of Los Angeles to perform a traditional song in the endangered Garifuna language. At the 2013 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Lovell taught lyrics to audiences, then asked them to sing along. Music plays an important role in diaspora communities, helping to keep the Garifuna language alive.
