This year’s Ralph Rinzler Memorial Concert recognizes the contributions of Dr. Peter Seitel to the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, as well as to the fields of folklore, performance studies, anthropology, linguistics, and oral history.

The Seldom Scene, an influential D.C.-area bluegrass band, will be performing at the concert on Friday, June 28, 6.pm. to 7:15 p.m. on the Danubia Stage. Current and former members of the group recently gathered in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to celebrate their upcoming release on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. In this video, they play the fan favorite “Through the Bottom of the Glass” in Ben Eldridge’s living room.
