On Saturday, July 2, two music ensembles from Colombia played to a packed house. Chirimía la Contundencia is from Quibdó in Colombia's Pacific Tropical Rainforest region. Cimarrón, making their third Festival appearance, is from the Southeastern Plains.
Their new Smithsonian Folkways release, Cimarrón! Joropo Music from the Plains of Colombia, is available for sale in the Festival Marketplace and online from Smithsonian Folkways. It will be available in stores on July 26.
