Join historians Dr. Jacques Ribemboim and Dr. Daniela Levy as they share the fascinating and little known story of Jews in Pernambuco, Brazil, who built the first synagogue in the Americas over 380 years ago. Fleeing persecution, members of the community went on to establish Shearith Israel in New Amsterdam (New York), the first Jewish congregation in North America. Filmmaker and DJ Grace Mozes moderates.
