Ozarks Opry
Join us for an eclectic mix of Ozarks singers, musicians, dancers, and even a comedian! These are the four basic elements of any Ozarks variety show, going back to the Weaver Brothers & Elviry in the early twentieth century, right up to today in Branson, Missouri, and elsewhere. Find out why commercial entertainment is integral to the Ozarks region.
Terry Sanders, aka Homer Lee: Branson’s Favorite Comedian, opens the showcase. For a dose of old-time music, David Scrivner (fiddle and mandolin), Nathan McAlister (banjo and fiddle), and David Cavins (guitar) offer an informal jam session. Representing Mountain View, Arkansas, Sylamore Special shares their lively and spirited take on bluegrass. The Williams Family of Missouri blends modern pop sounds and instruments—listen for Dewayne on the vocoder and Pastor Leroy on the double-neck guitar!—with spiritual traditions of gospel. Finally, another Missouri Ozarks family band, Big Smith, blends bluegrass, gospel, rock’n’roll, and acoustic country sounds.
