    Wishe Brant and Caira Karihwenhá:wi Nicholas show us how to make corn mush, a Kanien’kehá:ke (Mohawk) staple made of corn washed in ash water and then dried and crushed into flour. They will demontrate washing the corn and making the corn mush, highlighting the cultural importance of corn and its journey from kernel to table.

    This event will happen in-person, live on the National Mall, during the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on July 2-7, 2025. It will be livestreamed for online audiences and remain archived on our YouTube channel and website.
