In Colorado, New Mexico, South Texas, and the northern fringe of the Mexican border states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas, home in the most primordial sense is the valley of a bounteous river that cuts an l,800 mile course through the largest desert in North America.
