  • "Spring of '68": Peace Corp Experience in Ethiopia

Congressman John Garamendi and his wife were both Peace Corps volunteers in the late 1960s. In this video of a discussion at the 2011 Festival, Garamendi describes how the community in which he was living in Ethiopia reacted to the assassinations of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy. He also explains how this experience shaped his desire to pursue a career in public service. Filmed: Abby Sternberg Edited: Rafadi Hakim, and Charlie Weber
